Georgie is a passionate conservationist professional specialising in environmental and sustainability education. She has a MSc in Outdoor Environmental Sustainability Education from the University of Edinburgh and a BSc in Zoology from University of Southampton. Her MSc research project she used as an opportunity to do proper academic research on the influence of conservation education in human wildlife conflict in Maasai areas of Kenya, which is now published in the Southern African Journal of Environmental Education. She has written about her research in Swara Magazine and is fascinated by human and wildlife coexistence, decolonisation and working with communities to make the planet better for all. She is also fluent in Swahili and is fascinated in different ways to engage people in sustainability in East Africa. She has recently extended her knowledge and passion for connecting children to nature by working for the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, UK, designing and running the programme ‘Nature Nurtures’ to improve children’s mental health and well-being. Evaluation of the effectiveness of environmental education programmes has become an area of her expertise and she is always keen to discover and promote improved ways to access communities and get young people involved in conservation.
