Sarah Hoey

MSc PhD

Director

After obtaining her PhD in Neuroscience and molecular biochemistry from King’s College London, Sarah has sought to bring science to audiences outside of academia. Through TReND in Africa, won a grant from the Planet Earth Institute for a tertiary-level education workshop in Kenya and established a partnership with Tech4Trade to implement a project for 3D printing of laboratory equipment using recycled plastic. With Pint of Science, Sarah helped make science accessible to the public and raise awareness of the gender gap in research institutions.

Moving into the development sector, Sarah has applied the rigour of scientific method to advocacy research as well as brand, messaging, crisis communication, and fundraising strategies. She recently graduated from Sussex University achieving a high distinction for her MSc in Sustainable Development and currently delivers policy development, research and communications services as part of the Wilder Network’s Sustainable Communities project in Kenya and Tanzania.

Sarah has a wealth of experience in research across a variety of sectors, from academic, corporate, advocacy and charity organisations, and delivering the findings of research projects to both lay and expert audiences.
